A Functionalistic View of Family in America.
In the United States today it seems that there is a predominately functionalistic view of the family. These functionalistic views of the family are also seen as the root of many of societies' problems (i.e. crime rate, economy, education, etc.). It has been proposed, throughout politics and various other organizations, that a return to a more stable family structure is the solution to many of societies problems. I do not believe that this position
breakup of a family who does not fall within these strict guidelines. There are those that feel restoring the traditional family will miraculously solve all of societies problems. When families can provide love and support, they are a fundamental source of happiness for their members, and of value for all of society. In conclusion one does not have to belong to a nuclear family to love, be loved and be a successful member of society.
