A Misleading Trip to the Gym

In common nomenclature, the words vanity and pride carry something of a negative connotation. None will admit to possessing these characteristics in fear that they may be seen as a selfish person, although these are two traits inherent in the human demeanor. Superficially, people seem to have the interests of others as the primary motive for their actions; realistically though, these two qualities of the human psyche are the catalyst for most everyday activities. …tions are even taken as far as having gender roles where males must make themselves appear to be superior to females with the kinds of equipment that each gender chooses to uses in the facility. Only when people truly become comfortable with who and what they are can these actions of selfishness and vanity disappear. Until then, though, people will continue attempting to trick each other with their proud actions, masking them as something else.
