A deconstruction of act one, scene one and act two, scene one of 'Macbeth' by William Shakespeare.

Shakespeare opens the first scene with three witches/ weird sisters ending their meeting; we enter as they are arranging their next meeting. Shakespeare describes the scene through the characters, "Fog and filthy air", "In thunder, lightning, or in rain". This very short scene introduces us to a supernatural theme. …in daylight. Therefore it was the imagery of his poetry alone which had to work on the imagination of his audience, exactly what it has to do for a reader today. In a sense the climax of Macbeth is the murder of Duncan, and the rest of the play a consequence of that act. I cannot determine if the murder of Duncan or the defeat and death of Macbeth is the greater climax. You decide.
