A teenagers view on politics

Being 17 years old, I didn't fully comprehend why every news broadcast opened and closed with some reference to the upcoming presidential election in November. I was used to hearing about Kobe or Martha, people I could recognize in the media. …are handed the right to vote in the United States, while others in today's world fight just to escape a reign of terror from their leaders. An opportunity to pick a president should be like carrying a golden ticket of freedom and choice to the ballot box. Our vote is our lifeline to continue living in the prosperity we are promised. For our youth to throw that away, is an injustice to themselves I'm afraid.
