Abrahams covenant

The covenant between God and Abraham is told twice throughout the book of Genesis in two very different versions, in both chapters 15 and 17. …performed the sacrifice according to what he had been told. There is a need for two separate versions to show how they differ in so many ways. Both stories perhaps could have been recollections from different people to whom the story had been passed down and possibly even changed. If this were the case, both would in fact be detrimental to have in the bible because of the impact their differences make upon our culture.
