Advertising Critique

The first of the three ads that I have selected is from The New Yorker magazine. It is an ad for Russell Athletic. This is a company that makes sports wear. In the ad, you see a man wearing their product. The man is vigorously working out and is in good shape. The outfit from Russell Athletic is supposed to perform, according to the caption on the left. Therefore the outfit is helping the man …

…you can see two items. The items are a martini glass, and a bottle of Absolut vodka. The martini glass is shown to be attracted to the bottle of vodka, also being stated in the lower caption. The glass is so attracted that it is bending to get closer to the vodka. The background is black but there is a spotlight shining on the vodka. This is making the vodka the star of the ad.
