"A just society is founded on the recognition that all members of that society have equal worth and dignity. The interests of any one person cannot count more than the interests of any one else. Valuing the "common good" over an individuals own interests is based on the recognition that individuals concern that their own interests be looked after must be extended to the interests of others." In this situation there is not rational being, for all are self interested and all are out for their own self-preservation. Only once the individuals collectively decide to enter into a social contract can order and the common good be protected.
