"Antigone" - a comparative analysis.

"Antigone", written by Sophocles, is a typical Greek tragedy, complete with suicide, murder, and betrayal. There are definitely multiple themes to this incredibly famous play. However I believe the most pertinent theme is that the laws of God and the laws of man will always differ. …and women's place in the world. Creon in the end is the person who suffers the worst; he lost everything he had including the ever important trust and respect of the members of the city. His son is dead and he has lost everything. It ends on an incredible down note, as one would expect from a tragedy. Although I believe that Antigone is much more open to interpretation that many other play's and tragedies.
