Articles of Confederation vs. The Constitution

In May 1776, the Congress called on the colonies to form new state governments "under the authority of the people." Each state formed constitutions consisting of the curbing of the power of governors, which increased the power of the legislatures, making them the focal point of government. In retrospect, if these fathers of our country could see what kind of nation we have become due to the Constitution, they would be proud. Although knowing how powerful of an empire Britain had created, our forefathers could not have imagined how powerful our nation would become. This new Constitution would be the groundwork for the most powerful "empire" in the world: America.
