Aspects of the practice of science that may prove useful, especially in decision-making

Just as a scientist conducts researches or experiments in order to arrive with a conclusion, ordinary people also go through some processes, some evaluation or comparison for example, before coming up with a choice or decision. Earlier we have referred to or defined science as a body of knowledge, a "rational inquiry into nature." Our practice of science begins with this definition and goes on with philosophical discussions - concepts of a "scientific world view", …

…there are no absolute dogmas and this is also true in the real, so-called nonscientific world, in society. As a finale to this discussion, I would like to share word-for-word a paragraph from our book-- "What Science can do is to help us with the empirical parts of the problem so that when we make a decision, it will be an informed and rational decision made in the democratic environment, which science has helped shape."
