Bad Hair Day: This is a look at African American's and the importance of hair and the role it plays within the community

Diving into the world of black hair is something all familiar yet somehow completely distant all at once. While at first I thought I knew all there was to know about black hair in its entirety, Henry Louis Gates Jr. and my many black comrades proceeded to prove me totally wrong. …blacks to the evils of the white man and urge them to reclaim their strong, proud blackness. Maybe nothing can be done; maybe no one wants or needs anything to be done. So what if black people pour out their pocket books, burn their scalps and fry their hair in order to fit into what "we" think is beautiful? They've been doing it for so long, why bother changing? It is after all, only hair.
