…brief psychoses. Developing countries suffer from this disorder ten times as much as industrialized nations. Many studies show it is more prevalent among the lower-class. Obviously, with brief psychotic episodes the risk of mortality also increases. Interestingly, this disorder is two times higher in women. It is also much more common in people around the age of forty. Fifty to eighty percent of patients have no further psychotic episodes after the original brief psychotic episode.
