Now, as the recruitment call was once again sounded, the army found itself in the midst of implementing new tactics and regulations, and utterly unprepared for global service. The ensuing initial downfalls were just as commonplace as the neglect that ran unchecked through an army that was reserved for mere police work and second-rate reinforcements should the unfailing Royal Navy falter in keeping Britain's enemies from Her shores.
