Buffy and its Gothic Elements

Gothic Literature first became popular during the 18th -19th century as a reaction against the Age of Reason, which is the rise of science and rationalism. It was about the supernatural, morality, anxiety, and more overly, anything but the normal. It offered the reader a sense of unrealism, and to escape reality and into their own worlds. …supernatural way. As entertaining as I find it, I think it should not be taken that seriously. If we saw teachers, relatives, or whoever as a representation of a monster or vampire in Buffy, we wouldn't BE Buffy and slay them or stake them in the heart; it would be illegal if we killed them. Gothic Literature in my opinion should be taken seriously to a degree, but nothing more than giving you the creeps.
