…theory the Electoral College could produce some very disturbing results. A candidate could win only 22% of the national vote and still win the presidency. If there were three candidates one would only need 15% to win the election. The way this would work is if the candidate won 51% of the votes of the 39 smallest states it would only make up 22% of the total popular vote but still get the candidate 270 electoral votes needed to win office.
