Canada's Social Conventions at the Turn of Century

The social conventions in Canada at the turn of the century are much different than those today. Sexism was much more prevalent and allowed, even encouraged in day to day affairs. Medical practices were unsafe and doctors lacked knowledge that is common place in the twenty-first century. Working class people were not treated anywhere near as well as they are in present time. …at the turn of the century for many reasons. Women's equality was not even a concept in society and government. Doctors were under-educated, and medical practices and tools were primitive, resulting in many preventable deaths. The working class were put into unhealthy working conditions and forced to work ridiculous schedules. With all practices in perspective, it is not hard to see that we are very lucky to live in an advanced time such as ours.
