An upper class Chinese woman, Lady Thelma Hochoy the wife of Sir Solomon Hochoy was socially active in Trinidad. She joined the Chinese Association in the late 1930s and became a social worker in 1960. Lady Hochoy is founder and patron of the Lady Hochoy Home for Mentally Retarded Children (founded 1961) and is a past President of the Coterie of Social Workers.
