Casinos: Profit vs Progress

Native American Casinos produce monstrous revenues and create an enormous job market. Their influence on a community, however, is not necessarily positive. Venues which facilitate gambling are known to also foster alcoholism, depression, and drug use within their community. Additionally, Native Americans are not the main benefactors of the profits. …are not independently financed and therefore are not the main benefactors of the profits. Non-Natives and often times non-Americans, who support the casinos, are the beneficiaries of the lenient legislation and regulations on business supposedly proposed, only to Native Americans. Additionally, a correlation can be made between locales of gambling venues and an increase in depression and drug use within that area. Native American Casinos and gaming venues negatively effect most communities they transact with.
