…not the first person to explore the land of America. However, his voyages were the beginning of continuous European efforts to explore and colonize the America. Some people say that his voyages were brutal to European colonization and represented the beginning of the destruction of Native American peoples and culture. But as general, people acknowledge him as a great navigator and a great contributor who surpassed the creativity of finding his way to unknown seas.
