Four thousand years ago the humanities were introduced by the Ancient Greeks. The men began to record their feelings and ideas in the form of architecture, sculpture, plays, and paintings which make up the humanities. The influence of the Classical Greeks and what our modern society owes the men of that time period goes far beyond this paper, for the influence of the Greeks is found in every institution of our lives, ranging from art to drama and even our government. The fathers of tragedy, comedy, and even democracy all have their beginnings in ancient Greece.
