…d being interested in the character is very much like being interested in a person. Just as a person is elevated from being merely a human being (biological term) because of his or her tastes, rights, ideas etc. a character is transformed from words on paper to a figure of interest as the reader gets to know the character, first like a mere acquaintance, then like a friend and sometimes, after that, as a God.
