Cubism

Cubism is a movement that ran for about 7 years from 1907-1914. Unlike previous European styles which used a single view point Cubists uses multiple viewpoints this allows the eyes to depict several different aspects of an object in the same picture, which gave the paintings a sense of depth and allowed a 2 dimensional picture look 3 dimensional and appeared as if the painting was extending beyond the canvas. …movement progressed it was also used by sculptures, architects and the applied arts. The first piece of cubists' architecture was a department store in Prague named "the black Madonna" it was designed by Joseph Gocar. On the first floor they're was a café with a cubists interior and cubists light fixtures. The building remained opened from 1911 to the mid 1920's until it was re-opened in 1994 as part of the Czech cubism museum.
