Dead Man Walking
In the movie "Dead Man Walking", the prominent characters all adhere to the morals of Christianity. Although they all subscribe to the same set of beliefs and teachings, they each have their own way of interpreting them, regarding the death penalty. By looking at each character's view pertaining to capitol punishment for Matthew Poncelet, whether it be Sister Helen, Matthew, Mr. Delacroix or the Percys, each have a divergent opinion on the death penalty and
own interpretation of Christian morals. The death penalty is inhumane and against God's will for creation. I believe it is important to continuously seek other methods of punishment. Because, as we see it in the criminal justice system's death penalty, two wrongs don't make a right. We as human beings do not have the right to take a life. As Mahatma Gandhi once said: "An eye for an eye, will soon make the world blind."
