Descartes' meditations: Descartes' discourse on method

In Descartes' First Meditation he wants to demolish his opinions so he can decipher what is true and what is false with no biases. For example, today someone may hold beliefs in the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause but later in life will learn that these are false truths. …was born Catholic he had Protestant beliefs, once again reinforcing his openness. At the time Martin Luther had been criticizing the church for indulgences, the clergy were by far the most well educated in society. Decartes strived to teach people to find things for themselves and to continue to search for proof and express their findings to others. These qualities are clearly reflected in his work in all meditations and reporting his findings to others.
