Euthanasia comes from the Greek meaning 'easy death'. Formally known as 'mercy killing' it is the act of making or helping someone to die rather than letting him or her die naturally, because if they die naturally they will be in considerable pain or will have an extremely poor quality of life. The Catholic Church seems to have the clearest views on euthanasia but it is still a difficult issue for all Christians as it is not easy to stick to your beliefs of not using euthanasia when it is not a stranger but someone you know who is suffering and whom you can do nothing for.
