Does Rawls succeed in showing that the Difference Principle would be chosen in the Original Position?

There is also a high degree of irrationality in choosing the maximin rule as a decision tool, which provides a bulk of his argument. To a degree Rawls has been successful in showing that the Difference Principle is a plausible choice in the Original Position, but he has not convinced me that it would be chosen outright.
