Early American Foreign Policy
The United States foreign policy during 1865 to 1910 was determined less by economic than by strategic, moral, and political interests as shown in the Civil War, yellow journalism, and the Spanish-American war concerning Cuba. During the Civil War, foreign policy was based primarily on strategic awareness, for the country was in an internal war, making the country vulnerable to European nations. Further into the history of America, the Spanish-American war brought forth many different foreign policies
to improve the image of America. America established Her stand of becoming the most powerful nation of the world based on America's strong foreign policies and her protection of countries in need. America handled Her policies delicately in order to establish a strong ground to stand on. Almost a hundred years later, America is still as delicate as ever, for She still retains a power that will grow stronger based on Her well-established foreign policies.
