Electoral College
Electoral College The Electoral College is one of the vital checks and balances created by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution to ensure the preservation of liberty. Why do we not elect the President by popular vote? All other elections are based on popular vote, why not the election of President? It is generally said that the Electoral System was put in place for two main reasons: to give more weight to the smaller states
and the Bill of Rights. Fortunately, to succeed in the abolition of the Electoral College, the support of three-fourths of the states for a constitutional amendment is needed. The Electoral College is proof to the world that the American system of government is the best in the world. Even amid all of the agonizing controversy and confusion in the 2000 election, there was no bloodshed, no military needed, and a peaceful transition into a new administration.
