European Union - Why did the European countries feel the need to unite?

The question of what were the factors that drove the European Union to unite requires a lot of research on the European Union itself. My hypothesis consisted of several reasons for the unification of Europe. …this war was a powerful pressure that pushed the Western Europe to unite. I started my essay with a couple of theories on the reasons for unification of Europe and I carefully examined and proved them. I ended up with the facts that supported and backed them up. All of my theories proved rather correct and their core basically states that Europe formed out of need for better economical and political situation in the future.
