Fibonacci Leonardo Pisano, better known as Fibonacci, was an Italian mathematician of the 13th Century who helped introduce the Arabic numerals to Europe. Fibonacci's father was a diplomat, and as a result he was educated in Algeria, where he was taught the ten-digit decimal system we use today, and traveled widely in his youth.
