Food Labelling Laws Food labelling is currently regulated by the British Food and Drugs Act and Regulations, which was passed in 1954 when the effects of undeclared trace amounts of food allergens were not fully explained. …New Zealand Food Authority (ANZFA) in consultation with the States and Territories were added to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code on the 24 August 2000. These new standards are: 3.1.1: Interpretation and Application 3.2.2: Food Safety Practices and General Requirements 3.2.3: Food Premises and Equipment When incorporated into the food legislation of each State and Territory these Food Safety Standards will replace the differing food hygiene legislation in those jurisdictions and further promote national uniformity in food law.
