Fredrick Douglass was born in February of 1818. H was born into slavery and throughout his life experienced many situations, which helped sculpt and develop him as a person. He remained determined with high spirits in order to reach his goal of being educated. …efficient and fair way at the time. In reading the novel, I became more aware of the harsh environment that actually took place during that time. Slavery was a very important step for America to over come. I believe that everything happens for a reason. With the end of slavery many rights and movement came about opening up many new doors for the new world. The book shows us that we are all created equal.
