She supposedly committed suicide with an overdose of tranquilizer in 1954, less than a year before she unveiled her new exhibit in New Mexico. Her popularity has taken an increase lately, due both to the eager collection of her work by celebrities such as Madonna and Robert De Niro, and the themes of anger, violence and her pride in her ethnicity.
