One of the most fascinating creatures of the sea is the green sea turtle. Green sea turtles, Chelonia mydas, get their name from the color of their body fat, which is green from the algae they eat. But most importantly, you can help turtle researchers by reporting nesting, injured, or dead sea turtles to the Hawaii State Dept. of Land and Natural Resources. If we all act responsibly, with our help the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle population can increase and we can enjoy seeing this remarkable animal for many years to come.
