Halalai Halalai is the third youngest and third most historically active volcano on the island of Hawaii. Six different vents erupted lava. Two of the vents generated lava flow into the West Coast of the island. Halalai is shield volcano. The summit of Halalai rises to an elevation of 2523m (8271ft) above sea level. The volcano is the westernmost of the five major Hawaii volcanoes. It has a well-developed northwestern rift zone, a moderately well
eruption of Halalai, it will most certainly erupt again. The last historical eruption on Halalai ended in 1801. This eruption produced very fluid, high velocity flows that entered the ocean off western Hawaii. Halalai rarely erupts, but is still an active volcano.
