In 1954 he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. 9. On November 30th in 1960, Ernest Hemingway was committed to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. During the month of December he was given electroshock therapy. 10. In 1961 Ernest Hemingway took his own life by committing suicide.
