It was important because its history drew from the African American tradition in the South, because there were so many famous jazz musicians such as Duke Ellington, because the Jazz Age influenced the rest of American culture with writers such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, and because it encouraged the Harlem Renaissance. Americans today are still enjoying the great creativity from the Jazz Age.
