"How far is it true to say that the Weimar Republic was doomed from it's foundation?"

Germany had lost the First World War and was to encounter many years of hardship in which she would have to endure a wide range of conflicts. A democratic government seemed to be the most logical choice (since Germany had very little experience with them ). …towards dictatorship at this time, such as Hungary, Italy (Italy having been a liberal democracy for about 50 years) and lastly Poland are all worth remembering as well. It was not doomed from it's foundation, it merely had many controversial periods and since it was Germany's first attempt with a democratic parliament it was obvious that it was going to be the focal point of much judgment and scrutiny (especially since the Third Reich presided it).
