All humans live in societies. It is important to set up rules of behaviour within these societies so people treat their fellow human beings equally. These are commonly called human rights. The American and British forces recently liberated the Iraqi people from the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, in order to restore their human rights. We have since heard in the news that some of the liberators themselves have been the abusers of human rights by mistreating prisoners. We should learn from events in history that even the smallest abuse of human rights can result in disaster.
