…quibbling may confound matters considerably, it does not prove the existence of a Mountain of Gold, as you will readily admit. The evidence of the mystics is of such a kind. The net result is that the evidence for any kind of religious belief is disputable. The facts seem to show that religion is an illusion, mere wishful thinking. This being the case, it would be the more honest policy to overcome our religious delusions.
