England has always been seen as a major footballing force. After all, it was here in 1863 that the first ever competitive international football match took place (England v Scotland). The game quickly spread to Africa and Asia, mainly due to a grapevine affect through the British Empire and reached countries like Brazil by the way of immigrants from Europe. …of people outside the game is also disturbing, but the main worry for English football continues to be hooliganism. Repeats of the violent scenes we see nearly every year on our TV screens could come with serious consequences. Expulsion from all club and international competitions is a real possibility and that would be an absolute disaster for English football. England invented this great game and the nation loves it. Let's not deprive ourselves of it.
