Jacksonian Democracy

While the Jacksonian Democrats occasionally violated the United States Constitution and ideals of political democracy, individual liberty, and equality of economic opportunity, they did so in order to protect the interests of the common man. It was because of his dedication to the common man and the feelings of power and importance he gave them that this time period, "the era of the common man", was called "the Jacksonian Era".
