Throughout the time period of the slavery, there were few civilian men who were willing to risk their life for the freedom of slaves everywhere. Among those who took this risk was John Brown. He was a simple man from Torrington, Connecticut, who had strong beliefs against slavery and was an active abolitionist. …took many risks and made many sacrifices in order to get across his beliefs. After his attempt to arm slaves in hopes they would free themselves, he was convicted and hung. Even after his death, his beliefs and strategies carried on with other abolitionists. He was always known among abolitionists as a martyr to the cause of human rights. In the end, he proved his devotion to his cause and died with pride and dignity.
