Justice. I defined justice using the synoptic gospels as a means to arrive at a definition.

A few months ago I embarked upon a quest to define justice. Overall, this issue has been a constant reminder of the ancient Greek god, Sisyphus. For each time the wording seemed to appropriately describe justice, a certain concept or situation would be cited which rendered the explication inadequate; indeed I can identify with Sisyphus' continuous struggle pushing the boulder up the hill only to have to come back down and repeat the process. …to a common meaning of justice, their motivations and beliefs may be examined. This concept of justice is, however changeable. Indeed, the modern reader of the gospels might perceive various concepts of justice as suggested by the life and teachings of Jesus. But to a late century person, the message concerning the law and judgment was clear. I conclude, therefore, that justice is a notion fixed in time and place and complicated by individual interpretation.
