The way, in which both Brooks and Eyre have chosen to show this play implies its importance and relevance, it highlights issues of an overwhelming desire for power, which ultimately leads to downfall and forgetting what truly matters the most, family. It is evident that through the universal theme of family, King Lear is a text that will be understood and relevant in any context.
