The conditions of Germany during this time would not have lead one to automatically place Hitler as the Chancellor, but once the course of actions of all politically leaders are assessed, one can see the path that was taken that ended in a tragic dictatorship and war. Schleicher's life, along with that of his wife's, ended during Hitler's "blood purge" in 1934 when they were murdered at their home.
