STUDY OF ANIMAL TISSUES Objective: We observed and identified the shape, structure, and function of animal tissues. Materials: I used a pen, paper, my lab textbook, prepared slides of cross sections and microscopes. Method: Listed to lecture, read my lab book on Animal Tissues, made drawings of the structures that we observed. Results: The different tissues observed are as follows: 1. Epithelial Tissue-forms continuous layer, or sheet, over the entire body surface and most of the
human body are grouped into four categories: epithelial tissue which includes simple and stratified squamous epithelium, simple cuboidal epithelium, simple columnar epithelium, and pseudostratified ciliated columnar epithelium; muscular tissue which includes skeletal muscle, cardiac muscle, and smooth muscle; nervous tissue which contains nuron cells and neuroglia cells; and connective tissue which contains loose and dense fibrous connective tissue, adipose tissue, bone, cartilage, and blood. Two or more tissues are grouped together to make an organ.
