Linus Pauling
Linus Pauling Linus Pauling was born on February 28, 1901 in Portland, Oregon. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering at Oregon State Agricultural College (now Oregon State University), in 1922. He then became a graduate assistant at the California Institute of Technology, in Pasadena, California. In 1925, Pauling received his Ph.D. at physical chemistry in the California Institute of Technology. For two years he was a postdoctoral fellow in Europe. He returned to the California Institute

His theories on vitamin C and nutrition therapy were promoted in his books Vitamin C and the Common Cold, Cancer and Vitamin C, and How to Live Longer and Feel Better. He died on August 19, 1994 in Big Sur, California
