Maurits Cornelis Escher Maurits cornelis Escher was born in the Dutch province of Friesland on the seventeenth day of June in 1898. …works by Escher himself. In 1964, Escher went to North America again to see his son deliver a series of lectures. But with very bad luck, he became ill almost immediatly upon arrival. He and his wife returned to Holland after having surgery in Toronto. During the month of March in 1972, M. C. Escher became very ill. His family came to see him in the Hospital, but on March 27, 1972 the life of Maurits, Cornelis Escher ended.
