Mark Twain
Mark Twain aka Samuel Langhorne Clemens 1835 - 1910 Mr. Clemens was born on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Missouri. He moved to Hannibal, Missouri at the age of four were here received a public education. After his father's death, in 1847, Clemens began his carrier as an apprentice to a Hannibal printer. Later, he was a journeyman printer in Keokuk, Iowa, New York City, and Philadelphia. Then his life long dream of becoming a steamboat captain came true, until
years 1870 to 1890, Twain was said to have written his best works. Twain's work in the 1890's and 1900's were seen as dark and bitter, supposedly because of the deaths of his wife and two daughters. Twain was heroed in later years. In 1907, he received a honorary doctorate from Oxford University. Samuel Langhorne Clemens, aka Mark Twain, died on April 21, 1910 in New York City. Twain will be forever remembered as the greatest humorist of his time.
